Expanding Healthcare Access in Placer County with New Health Facility

Our first project in Placer County wasn’t just about entering a new market; it was about answering a growing need in the Greater Sacramento region. This build also marked our first partnership with WellSpace Health, an organization leading the charge to close critical healthcare gaps across Northern California.

Located off the freeway for visibility and ease of access, the facility serves as a true regional medical hub. For generations, the building has played an active role in the community, taking on several uses over the decades and most recently serving as a church prior to its transformation. Now reimagined as a WellSpace Health facility, the site continues its legacy as a place of connection and service, positioned to support care for nearly 40,000 patients across Placer County.

The building itself tells a story of transformation. Split down the center, the facility now houses a dedicated dental wing on one side and medical services on the other—creating a functional, patient-focused layout. By bringing medical and dental care together at a single site, the facility supports WellSpace Health’s broader mission to expand access to comprehensive services across its network, while reducing barriers for patients throughout Placer County.

To ensure the building clearly reflected its new role, our team introduced new tower elements and architectural features that gave the structure a distinct identity. Highly visible from the highway, the facility now stands as a recognizable medical home, one that signals stability, accessibility, and long-term investment in the community.

This project supports the continued growth of WellSpace Health under the leadership of CEO Dr. Jonathan Porteus. Since stepping into the role, Dr. Porteus has helped expand access to care across the region, a commitment recently recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal, which named him one of the area’s Power 100 most influential healthcare executives. Under his leadership, WellSpace Health continues to advance its mission of delivering high-quality care to communities that need it most.

From a construction standpoint, this was about adaptive reuse with purpose. Rather than replacing a longstanding community asset, we extended its life—strengthening its role for the future. Repurposing the structure ensured the building remains relevant, functional, and capable of serving Placer County residents for years to come.

Our partnership with WellSpace Health is driven by a shared commitment to creating medical homes where demand exceeds supply. In communities with unmet healthcare needs, meaningful change requires action. This project represents more than a completed building; it represents access, stability, and long-term impact. For us, construction is only the starting point; the true measure of success is the lasting care these spaces support.
