SENIOR DRAFTER

Fast-growing innovative general contractor looking for an experienced Senior Drafter to facilitate projects in our core markets of commercial and healthcare projects. Typical project includes designing floor plans, site plans and elevations for different types of commercial real estate uses. The Senior Drafter is responsible for managing commercial projects from preliminary concept through initial municipal review. The Senior Drafter position coordinates and collaborates with clients, architects and engineers, subcontractors and vendors, consultants, company team members, and reports to the Director of Development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Design of conceptual architectural site plans, floor plans, and elevations as required to tailor to client design requests.

  • Develop construction scope of work and define tasks to create required development construction documentation for each assigned project.

  • Research zoning, parking ratios and other municipal requirements to create preliminary site plan options.

  • Meet with clients to define project scope, goals, and deliverables to propose overall design and budgetary parameters to suit individual client needs.

  • Monitor project’s progress through development design process and assist in creation of required construction development documents.

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with architects, engineers, vendors, consultants, and clients.

  • Document, measure, and verify existing site conditions for creation into site development plans and/or establishment of scope of work.

  • Initiate, coordinate, and assist in management of initial and subsequent project job walks with subcontractors to verify existing site and building condition required for the project’s construction.

  • Establish and convey scopes of work necessary and provide architectural plans, specifications, and related documents as necessary for each respective trade on the project.

  • Identify costs, generate, and coordinate design cost addendum document to be added as final construction document to design contract.

  • Coordinate, and assist where necessary, with the Pre-Construction and Estimating department teams to ensure the overall project's success.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED ARE:

  • Licensed engineer or architectural stamp preferred, not required.

  • 3 years' experience in a commercial construction design related role.

  • 3 years' experience with design build processes.

  • Healthcare and retail experience preferred, not required.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Understanding of commercial construction design concepts. Healthcare, OSHPD3 and retail project experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Understanding of zoning, general entitlement processes, and municipal reviews.

  • Understanding and familiarity with construction methods, means, and techniques.

  • Familiarity with building and design techniques.

  • Comprehensive understanding of BIM and software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and CSI.

  • Ability to physically drive a vehicle.
