An Estimator will work closely with Architects, Engineers, Owners and Subcontractors. Will work on both negotiated and bid projects within our core markets of Healthcare, Commercial, and Industrial projects in the Central Valley. Candidates should be detail-oriented and must demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies, skills, and procedures. Bachelor’s Degree is a plus but not required.

  • Essential Duties

  • Organize, research, analyze, and strategically plan for conceptual and detailed estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling for final submission of budget or bid to the client.

  • Determine which subcontractor(s) and/or vendor(s) to include in budgeting and bidding process for final pricing.

  • Provide work assignments to Estimating team to ensure that accurate estimating information is incorporated into final estimates including, but not limited to, quantity surveys and cost estimates, subcontractor proposals, research on tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, permits, etc.

  • Write and submit Requests for Information (RFI).

  • Ensure all inside and outside project team members understand initial project requirements and ongoing updates to those requirements.

  • Lead estimate reviews with project leadership.

  • Present and defend estimates to clients and outside parties.

  • Collaborate toward identifying creative and cost-effective solutions.

  • Secondary Duties

  • Assist in selecting building systems, value analysis, and project scheduling.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.

  • Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the construction field required.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in estimating projects required.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Strong conceptual estimating ability and client service skills.

  • Proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.

  • Detail orientation skills to organize and manage multiple project tasks.

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain subcontractor and supplier relationships.

  • Ability to interface and maintain open communication with inside and outside team members, clients, architects, engineers, and other project parties to ensure complete understanding of a project’s scope.

  • Applicable mathematical skills.

  • Positive and professional attitude.

  • Ability to direct, train, and mentor Estimators.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Project, and Dropbox.

  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
